What is Fostering?

Fostering is providing temporary care of a cat and preparing it for its new forever home. Fostering generally lasts from a couple of weeks to a few months, and  at Street Cats Alliance we ask for a minimum commitment of 14 days. A committed foster carer will keep an animal until it finds its forever home.

SCA will pay for all food, litter, worm, tick and flea treatments, vet work, etc. We just ask you to take them to their vet appointments; provide updates on their progress - such as health, personality, and training; take regular good quality photos of them for their profiles; and make them available for adoption meets and fundraising events... Easy!

Based in Toowoomba, we are looking for carers throughout the Darling Downs, Lockyer Valley, South Burnett and Brisbane regions - and to keep up with increasing numbers of cats in need, we need new carers now!

What is required?

Your duties will include:   
- Collecting your foster from a public location or residential address
- Attending vet appointments with your foster
- Feeding and litter training your foster
- Grooming your foster
- Training your foster to follow basic commands
- Submitting good quality photos of your foster each week (this is essential to assist adoption)
- Providing feedback on behaviour & personality 
- Bringing the cat to meets and/or having the cat readily available for collection
- Attending SCA social and fundraising events with your foster when possible

If you currently have pet cats, preferably they will be:
- FIV and FeLV negative
- Fully vaccinated at all times (F3 plus FIV/FeLV)
- Desexed 

It is expected that foster cats be kept indoors, or in an enclosure at all times. If you are renting your home, you will need to have your landlord's permission to have pets.

SCA will pay for all vaccinations, desex, microchip, worm tick & flea treatment, food, and litter for your foster cats.
